shuffleboard outsideFor the many that play shuffleboard, it’s no surprise to them that it is gaining enormous popularity due to its fascinating and invigorating play that people just love to enjoy.  Aside from the fun factor, if you’re the kind of person that absolutely loves a challenge and is extremely competitive, then this is definitely the game for you.

How the game is played is fairly simple, one just needs to get the Puck into the highest scoring position without falling off the horse collar, or more commonly referred too as the end of the table.  Scoring points are then tallied and the bottom line is that the first person who earns twenty one points wins.

What makes shuffleboard so challenging is that it requires great skill and concentration to control the speed and power of the puck.  You want to place your puck into the scoring areas while obviously blocking or preventing your opponents puck from reaching the higher scoring areas. Knocking them into the minus ten zone is the best strategy.  It’s a blast to frustrate your friends and family by successfully blocking or bumping their shots.  Shuffleboard is a great family game that doesn’t need strength nor power, but rather is a test of skill and strategy.  And the yes, like many other games of strategy, the more experience you have, the better you are as a player.  But don’t be surprised if your seven year old child picks up the game very quickly and beats the pants off of you.  It is a game that is great for all ages, including the elderly, disabled or even those who are confined to a wheelchair.

Another thing that makes shuffleboard great is that it’s extremely versatile.  It can be played wherever and whenever you want, from any indoor basement to a pub or outside on a deck, shuffleboard is always ready for open game.  It is a perfect game for a family gathering or reunion.  Try creating a competition and/or tournament for a family reunion or possibly with the neighbors at a block party.  The game can consist of individuals or pairs — just gather up the troops and go for it!

Shuffleboard sets and tables range from 8 feet to 22 feet in length and average about two or three feet wide.  So if you are interested in purchasing a shuffleboard table, then make sure you measure the room for which you want to place the table in.  It would be a shame to buy a large table and not have enough room to play on it.  You generally want at least 3 feet of distance from the end of the tables to play.

Playing shuffleboard will satisfy anyone looking for a good time, so start looking for a new table today and let the games begin.  You and your family will be glad you did!
